  1. From an article in The Summit Sun dated June 26, 1980 Page 8
    The burial place of Samuel McGehee, an early settler of Amite County, was the scene of marker dedication services by members of the Amite River Chapter of the Daughters of The American Revolution. The grave is located in an isolated cemetery down a log road New Zion Baptist Church in Amite County near Summit Mississippi.

    The National Society fo the American Revolution:DAR #344123.

    Samuel's place of residence during the Revolutionary War was Montgomery County, VA, formally Boutaourt County, VA. He was a Lt. and served under Cpt Triggs company in 1781.
